Talahase took home two notable honors this week, one of which was named the nation’s top public utility and the other by Tom Brown Disc Golf Course in the state.
The City of Talahasi Utilities received the EF Scattergood System Achievement Award from the American Public Service Association. The award is associated with the city’s commitment to clean energy, customer service and mutual support.
The city has pledged its full support to renewable energy by 2050 and has begun measures involving public transport and municipal fleet components.

The city already has two solar farms, one of which provides some of the energy generated to support municipal buildings. He is also working on a clean energy plan for next year.
That includes plans to transform the entire community into renewable and clean energy, such as climate change, by reducing access to energy supplies and investing in solar energy or other energy efficiency.
Talahasi was one of several utility companies in Florida that stopped collecting utility bills during the Corona virus outbreak. At the time, it provided free access to more than 9,000 customers, and since its inception this spring, it has been working to provide federal financial assistance, payment plans, or other means to Covi-related offenders.
Separation for guilty accounts began in February, beginning earlier this year. In all, more than $ 10 million in unpaid bills have been cut off by the city.
Three other municipal utility companies also received this year’s award: Bristol Tennessee Essential Services, Kawana Utilities in Wisconsin and the Kentucky Paduka Power System.

Another highlight of the Apapa Prize highlighted the city’s urgent efforts to provide mutual assistance. During last year’s hurricane in Laura, Marco, Sally, and Delta, workers traveled to 10 different cities.
In a statement, APPA President and CEO Joy Dito said: The award will be presented to the City Commission on July 7. “Their rapid response to COVID-19 in their community was remarkable. They really deserve this honor. ”
