The county is in talks with a South Korean company on solar farming

Samsung Renewable Energy wants to build 800 hectares of solar farm in Washington near Alliance.

The company has been in talks with the Stark County Regional Planning Commission since February, RPC executive Bob Naw told Stark County commissioners at a meeting on Tuesday.

According to the map given to the commissioners, at least 10 properties owned by at least four parks are located seven miles southwest of the Alliance. Some of the property is around an abandoned railway bed controlled by the Stark County Park District.
