Sinopec confirms the first carbon-neutral fuel transport

The Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange (SEI) presented its first carbon-neutral petroleum certification to Sinopec, Cosco and China Airlines at China’s first full-life carbon-neutral fuel transportation certification ceremony in Shanghai on September 22nd.

Sinopec, Cosco Ship and China Eastern Airlines have taken advantage of their joint ventures to explore the “green transport new model” of cross-industry, full cycle and zero emissions: as a key milestone in China’s transport and energy sectors to achieve higher carbon emissions and increase carbon neutrality They advertise.

Crude oil from this carbon-neutral petroleum project was produced by Sinopek International Petroleum Exploration and Production Corporation in Angola and imported as a carrier by Sinopek’s commercial unit, UNEECC, with Cosco. Crude oil tankers have traveled more than 9,300 miles to the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans to the port of Ningbo Zushon. 30,000 T of crude oil was later transported to the Synopec Gaoquiao Petroleum Corporation.

Sinopec will launch carbon-neutral gasoline and diesel products at designated gas stations this year. Sinopec, meanwhile, is jointly supplying 5417 T jet fuel to East China Airlines to build carbon-neutral flights.

To compensate for carbon emissions during the oil delivery life cycle, Sinopec, Cosco Ship and China Eastern Airlines actively implemented energy conservation and emissions reduction strategies, purchased Chinese Certificate Release (CCER) and hired SEEE as carbon. Independent Certification Authority.

The project has invited a third-party certification agency to measure carbon dioxide emissions throughout the life cycle of oil exploration, transportation, storage, refining and consumption. Releases to complete China’s first carbon-neutral fuel shipment.

The three companies have played their part in achieving the common goal. Sinopec is responsible for offsetting carbon emissions from exploitation, storage, processing, petroleum products, diesel and LPG. Cosco is responsible for the transportation of crude oil and the burning of marine fuel. And China has taken responsibility for offsetting carbon emissions from aviation kerosene.

“Sinopec is committed to green and low carbon production. This carbon-neutral petroleum project has achieved carbon neutrality from “baby” to “grave” at every drop of oil. Companies in three industries with full coverage of carbon neutrality in land, sea and air transport. The project has a positive impact, and we will expand to provide safe, clean and versatile energy by meeting the target requirements to reach the carbon peak and achieve carbon. “Neutrality,” said Ling Yikun, vice president of Synopec.

The petroleum sector has a long process of complex technological processes and problems with calculating carbon emissions. The oil and gas industry must find a new development direction that is in line with the new carbon offset and carbon neutrality standards and the overall trend of energy transfer, green and sustainable.

In order to accurately measure and compensate for the project’s carbon emissions, Sinopec has partnered with Cosco Ship and Eastern China Airlines to conduct China’s first-year carbon neutral oil trade. This partnership paves the way for industry standards and the green and clean development of the industry to pave the way for a carbon-neutral oil trade.
