Rocky Mountain Development Council, Inc Fall offers homebuilding lessons

Rocky Mountain Development Council offers a monthly home buyer education class. The purpose of the class is to educate potential homeowners about the process of buying a home. The October session is a one-day, one-on-one event on Saturday, October 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rock Neighborhood Center, 200 South Cruse Avenue, Helena, MT 59601.

Homebuilding instruction and counseling includes one-on-one counseling sessions and an eight-hour course covering the complexities of buying a home. Repeated for both first-time homebuyers and homebuyers.

Homebuilding courses provide in-depth information on many aspects of home ownership, including budgeting, home acquisition, mortgage lending, homeowner insurance, home inspection and maintenance, and energy savings. The unit features local speakers with expertise in finance, insurance, property inspections and real estate.

The course is led by Beverly Dashanu. Beverly is an experienced financial services professional with a wide range of services, from consumer loans and real estate finance to professional consumer credit restructuring services. She has served on the U.S. Way Board and is a certified housing consultant for HUD and Neighborhood Works in the United States for Girl Scouts, Faith Shelter and Big Brothers in America. Beverly understands the consumer’s financial landscape, the issues facing Americans on a daily basis, and seeks to coordinate and achieve people’s financial plans.

Homework is offered in three days, in November and December, in a virtual format. These virtual formats are scheduled for Tuesday, November 16 through Thursday, November 18 from 5:30 – 8:30 am and Tuesday, December 7 through Thursday, December 9 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.
