ELKINS – Dr. Andrew Jones has been appointed Assistant Professor of Communications at Davis and Elkins College. Starting the fall of 2021, it will teach classes in public speaking, debate, interpersonal and public relations.
“Dr. Jones’ teaching experience and extensive academic interests are welcome to Davis and Elkins College. Said Dr. Rob Phillips, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Work in the field of communication and interest in disciplinary programs will certainly strengthen the quality of our academic program and better prepare our students for professional success and thoughtful participation in their communities.
Jones brings experience as a teacher, public speaker and author. Prior to joining the D&E Faculty, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications at the LCCC International University of Lithuania, Klaipeda, where he received advanced, intermediate and advanced degree courses. Prior to that, Jones was the Director of Forensics in the Department of Communications and an Assistant Professor at the University of Lynchberg, Virginia. While working on his PhD, he taught advanced and introductory courses at Louisiana State University in Louisiana and Baton Rouge.
As an author, his work has been published in the Baltic Journal of Law and Politics, the 2016 presidential campaign communication studies, the International Encyclopedia of Personal Relationships, and the Quarterly Journal of Speech.
Jones has also given numerous public talks and conferences in the United States and Europe.
“I’m excited to be joining the D&E faculty here in West Virginia.” Jones said. I look forward to working with my colleagues and contributing to the Elkins living community. The only thing that excites me more than the mountains in the corner of this campus are the bright, funny, and motivated students who enjoy this campus.
Jones earned his PhD. From Communication Studies at Louisiana State University. He holds a master’s degree in communications from Liberty University and a bachelor’s degree in theater and speech from Hillsdale College in Michigan. He is a member of the National Communications Association, the American Rhetoric Society, the European Rhetoric Association, and the European Communication Research and Education Association.
