“Israel is set to sign an agreement with neighboring Jordan to build a large solar power plant in its territory to generate electricity and supply water to Jordan,” said National Security Adviser Iyal Hulata, confirming earlier media reports.
He said the agreement will be signed between the two countries’ energy ministers tomorrow in the United Arab Emirates.
“The Abrahamic agreement is a vital step in promoting the national security of our two countries,” Hulata said, referring to the diplomatic agreement reached between the UAE and Bahrain last year.
Hulata will not pay any money for the project. News Agency Axios previously reported that it will build the factory in Masdar, a clean energy company in Abu Dhabi. Israel pays $ 180 million a year for power between the Emirates and Jordan, reports Axum.
