Sailors have been navigating the high seas for hundreds of years, but the sun’s rays below the ocean floor have remained a mystery until recently. In fact, it was not until 1875 that during the Challeger voyage in 1875, the first real idea of how deep the human ocean was was.
Today’s graphic, another masterpiece in xkcd, is a unique and entertaining view of everything from Lake Superior ice-covered beaches to the black, uncomfortable canal (bearing the name of its first destination today).
The diagram is detailed, so we will show only a few points that need attention.
Deep views with Lake Baikal
Lake Baikal is one of Siberia’s deepest, mountainous Mongolian frontiers, one of the world’s most spectacular water bodies. There are several qualities that make Lake Baikal stand out.
Deep depth- Baikal is the world’s deepest lake at 1,642m (5,387 feet) in the Great Continent. That high depth holds a lot of clean water. In fact, 22% of the world’s fresh water is in the lake.
Age die- Baikal (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is over 25 million years old, making it the oldest lake in the world.
Transparency: Surprisingly, the water in the lake is exceptionally clear. In winter, visibility can be as high as 30 m (98 feet) below ground level.
Biodiversity The unique ecosystem of Lake Baikal provides habitat for thousands of species of plants and animals. In fact, more than 80% of these species are rooted, which means they are unique to that region.
Who is Alvin?
Since 1964, diligent research by Alvin has helped us better understand the deep ocean. Alvin
Although many parts of the ship have been replaced and modified over the years, it is still used today. A.D. By 2020, Alvin had a $ 8 million upgrade, and is now able to explore 99% of the ocean floor.
We know more about Venus under the ocean. The chances are high.– Anna-Lewis Reysenbach, Professor of Microbiology, PSU
The deepest point in the ocean
It is the deepest point in the ocean Mariana TrenchAt 11,034 meters (36,201 feet).
This canal is located in the Pacific Ocean, near Guam and near the Mariana Islands, named after the well. The pit is an example of the deepest ocean depth, but compared to the surface level, the depth is less than Manhattan.
Obviously the contextual distance is very different from the fixed distance, but it does serve as a reminder of how narrow the “touch” band is.
The ancient Greek word Abyssinus literally means “the depths of the abyss.” In the lower part of the body (which covers 75% of the oceans), the enormous size of this ecosystem cannot be overstated.
In fact, the ocean floor is not the most beautiful part of the ocean. It has no character, and let’s say coral reef, it does not feel pain, but there are still some very compelling reasons to look for it. Auxiliary companies are primarily interested in polymetalic nodules, which are basically rich in manganese forms scattered throughout the ocean.
Manganese is already important in steel production, but demand is growing rapidly from the fast-growing electric vehicle market. The first company to find an economical way to collect noodles from the ocean floor could harvest high winds.
Drill baby, drilling
The desire for wealth can push people to some of the most uncomfortable places, and in the case of Deepwater Horizon, we have driven oil to the famous Marianas Trench.
Excavation is a complex process, and in 2001 the excavation site was hailed as an engineering masterpiece. To date, Deepwater Horizon holds the record for the deepest beach to date.
A.D. After the catastrophic eruption of the device in 2010 and the subsequent leak, a deep digging record may be time-tested.
