Jacksonville, Florida – October 08, 2021 – CSX today announced the launch of a new Leadership Accident Training (RIT) train designed to provide sophisticated, adaptive hazard safety training training to 23 first responders. State Network.
“CSX is pleased to develop our own custom train training vehicles,” said Chris Machenberg, director of hazardous materials systems, to teach emergency responders and government officials how to respond safely to railway accidents. Our goal is zero accidents or injuries. However, if an incident occurs, we want to make sure the first responders are ready to keep our community safe.
CSX trains thousands of first responders each year on the rail system, providing classroom training in local firewood, fitness and table practice, as well as web-based and self-study courses. RIT Rail is part of CSX’s resources to train railway workers, customers, contractors and emergency responders. The train was based in Jacksonville, Fla. When it is not in use on our network and with advanced technology, including a custom mobile unit.
“Our goal is to be the best railroad in North America, and we can’t be the best without safety,” said Mike Austin, director of hazardous materials and senior coordinator at the site. The CSX Response Trainer Train is still another tool we can use every day to achieve that goal.
RIT Train enables CSX to expand access to the security program and strengthen the company’s partnership with emergency personnel. The training will equip first responders with train safety equipment, disaster identification protocols and transportation techniques for the safe return of people in the event of a train accident.
