The recently inaugurated Sarimo Diamond Development Center is a historic moment for the country, attracting significant investment and highlighting the role of minerals in Africa’s development.
Johannesburg, South Africa, September 7, 2021 / – The African Energy Chamber (AEC) (www.EnergyChamber.org) is grateful to President Joao Lawrence for inaugurating the first Saurimo Diamond Development Center in Angola and the wider region. The development marks a milestone in the country’s quest for mineral wealth and emphasizes the role of strategic development and investment in driving Africa’s economic growth.
Angola is the world’s sixth-largest diamond producer and third on the African continent, and Angola is focusing on using resources such as diamonds to boost investment and infrastructure development. Launched on August 27 by HE President Joao Lorenzo, Saurimo Hub is home to four diamond-cutting factories – in addition to the country’s four existing ones – the first phase of investment of $ 77 million. In addition to reducing illegal mining, increasing domestic production and creating meaningful jobs for the country, Saurimo Hab shows the value of industrial integration by accelerating growth.
What makes the center a spectacular event for the country is the unification of all industry actors – both public and private – into one development, stimulating growth and ensuring the country’s diamond production and exploitation. Aiming to create Angola’s internationally competitive diamond industry, Saurimo Hub will improve Angola’s diamond value chain – by cutting cutting capacity from 2% to 20% – with new refining and processing plants that will enable the country to export raw diamonds. Various products.
Meanwhile, the Diamond Center will provide new jobs to the local people, accelerating human capital growth in the region and increasing job creation. Through educational programs, technical and vocational training courses and facilities, and more than 5,000 new jobs for Angolans, the center aims to empower the population to grow Angola’s economy.
A.D. During a visit to Angola in 2019, Minister Dimantino Pedro Azevedo, Minister of Minerals and Petroleum, promised business leaders that the project would be a priority, and it will be delivered. This kind of outcome-oriented leadership approach should be the focus of all energy projects in Angola and Africa.
“The inauguration of the Sarimo Diamond Development Center is a milestone in Angola’s journey towards diversity, integration and overall economic growth. Combining an entire industry under one development, President Joao Lorenzo established Angola as a leading investment destination, making the country one of Africa’s leading mineral producers. AEC Executive Chairman Nije Ayuk said.
“Through the Hub, Angola will be able to attract significant investment in a number of sectors of the economy, boost growth and human capital, which will drive the future of the industry. Angola has shown what can be done with practical leadership, and the country is to be commended for this remarkable achievement.
The African Energy Week (AEW) in Cape Town, November 9-12, to promote further investment in Africa’s promising energy and mining sectors will promote growth achievements such as the Saurimo Center. Emphasizing the role of industrial integration and exploitation in Africa’s energy and mining sectors, MEIAD 2021 focuses on accelerating multi-sectoral development and introducing international financial experts to key project developments in Africa. AEW 2021 is committed to Africa’s economic transition.
