Tesla has launched new Megapack batteries for a massive 99 megawatt / 198 megawatt power storage project under construction in the UK.
Just two years ago, Tesla launched MegaPac. Next to PowerWall and PowerPack, Tesla was the third largest energy storage product.
A single megapac unit is a 3-megawatt battery system with integrated modules, investors and heating systems.
With large-scale and integrated power electronics, Tesla Megapak claims to be 60% more energy-dense than the power package.
It can also be shipped in containers ready to be loaded on site.
The battery system replaced gas in Ventura County and became a popular 1GWh project in northern California as a major energy storage project.
Now, we are learning about a new one in the UK.
Photowatio Tadash Venture (FVV) and Harmony Energy, part of Abdul Latif Jamel Energy, have announced that they have begun construction on what should be the largest energy storage project in the UK, and are surprisingly suing Tesla Megapoks.
Work began immediately on the 99MW / 198MWh Clay Tye station near Essex MM, the largest project under construction in the UK in terms of capacity. Uses Tesla Megapac Lithium-ion batteries system with real-time marketing and control with Tesla AutoBodder I software.
The large new battery system grid is expected to facilitate renewable energy use.
It will now be added to the 34 MW / 68 MWh Contego battery storage facility near Bergis Hill, West Sussex, released directly from Tesla Megapak batteries and Tesla automotive software system.
With these two projects, the UK has quickly begun to embrace energy storage capacity using Tesla Megapak.
In addition, Harmony Energy said the construction of battery projects in the UK has 1.2 GW.
